Using Aspire to Register Students for CHS Classes
College in High School uses an online application management system called Aspire. At the beginning of each course, the CHS office e-mails student registration instructions to teachers to share with prospective CHS students. CHS teachers set a deadline for completing the online application and returning the printed registration form to class. CHS teachers sign the registration forms and return them all together to the CHS office. Registration forms should not be sent by parents or students.
First-Semester and Full-Year Course Deadline
All applications must be completed and registration forms mailed by October 1. Teachers should limit their distribution/collection periods to two weeks.
Second-Semester Course Deadline
For second-semester courses, all applications must be completed and registration forms mailed by March 1. Teachers should limit their distribution/collection periods to two weeks.
Mailing Completed Registration Packets
To register a student for a CHS course, teachers should include the following completed material for each student registering:
- Aspire-generated Registration/Permission Form
- Tuition check made payable to the University of Pittsburgh
Please mail completed material for all students, in one packet, to the CHS office:
College in High School
Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences
University of Pittsburgh
G-1 Gardner Steel Conference Center
130 Thackeray Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 1526
Drops and Withdrawals
It is important for students to be aware of their progress throughout the course. If you believe that any students may not be successful in your course, you can discuss drop and withdrawal options with them. If needed, obtain the Course Drop/Withdrawal Request form in Aspire (under Announcements), obtain the necessary signatures, and return the form before the deadline. (Dropping/Withdrawing from the CHS course has no effect on enrollment in the high school credits for the course.)
If a student drops a course, it will not appear on the Pitt transcript and the student will receive a full refund for the course.
If a student withdraws from a course, a grade of "W" will appear on their Pitt transcript and tuition is not refunded.
Deadlines are based on the course's schedule:

|Summer Semester||June 29||July 15|
|Full Year||October 10||March 1|
|First Semester||October 10||December 1|
